Workshops for literacy

Whew, just thinking about August makes us all a little bit tired here in Adarna House.  Tired and excited, that is.

The schools have always been our focus the past few years when August comes around. That’s thanks to the many schools that remember to celebrate our beautiful language with Buwan ng Wika.

But this year, we would be able to cover two other bases through our NGO and government partners.

We have two workshops scheduled this month, in partnership with the Department of Education — one on using literature as a spring board to teach lessons across all academic subjects, and the other on ways to improve the Library Hubs all over the country.

The NGO front will not be left behind with a total of seven workshops this August.  Yakap Para sa Kaunlaran ng Bata will hold two storytelling workshops for teachers on August 7 and 14.  On August 21, we’ll be flying to Cagayan de Oro to facilitate a workshop for ICTSI Foundation.  Then the whole last week of August will have us during a tour of Samar and Leyte for four workshops care of Plan International.

And each workshop we do involves books, we are more than happy to be completely exhausted this month as we spread the love of reading all over the country.  Thanks to our generous partners!
