Reading and Filipino are fun with our friends from THE LEARNING LIBRARY this summer!
Reading is the most fundamental skill and the foundation of all learning. And yes, it’s fun! But what if your child doesn’t agree? What if she feels reading is simply boring?
On the other hand, reading can be enjoyable for most kids as long as it’s in English. But reading in Filipino? Some students can’t even speak the language, much less read it. (Imagine being asked to read Chinese when you can’t even understand someone speaking it!)
It’s for parents of these struggling kids that THE LEARNING LIBRARY came to be. Owned and run by teachers who love to read, THE LEARNING LIBRARY is a one-of-a-kind center whose mission is to develop the love of reading in children. Its READING ADVANTAGE program takes students all the way from letters and sounds to high school-level writing skills, and lets them borrow from a library of over 4,000 of the best children’s books!
“Our mission is to develop not just the skill, but the love of reading. A child who reads more, reads well and learns better,” says Vanessa Bicomong, co-founder of The Learning Library. “The Reading Coaches at our 8 branches are chosen not just for teaching skills, but their actual love of reading. They are highly trained to be able to assess each child’s particular needs and tailor-fit the reading program accordingly. Like everyone who is part of The Learning Library, they believe that reading is the key to a child’s success in school and beyond.”
