Congratulations to Edgar Calabia Samar for winning the Fiction Category — Novel (Filipino Language) in the 34th National Book Awards for Si Janus Sílang at ang Tiyanak ng Tábon.
Si Janus Sílang at ang Tiyanak ng Tábon is the first book in the Janus Sílang series, the very first series for young adults in the Philippines. It is about a teenage boy who discovers that TALA Online, his favorite RPG (role playing game) that features creatures from Philippine mythology, has more to do with him than he could possibly imagine.
The second book in this series was released this year and a manga version of the now award-winning Book 1 is also available.
The National Book Awards is presented by the National Book Development Board and the Manila Critics Circle.
