Adarna House Digital’s app A Day in the Market (App Store / Google Play) was honored with a Special Prize by Jurors during the 4th Digital Ehon Awards in Japan. Approximately 200 apps, not only from Japan but from 26 different countries were gathered this year. The Juror who chose the app for a Special Prize is Koji Ishikawa, a best-selling and award-winning author-illustrator of children’s books published in Japan, France, South Korea, and China.

The award ceremony and the announcement of the winners were held at the Workshop Collection 11, Shibuya TOD building on August 29, 2015.  The workshop collection, which marks its 11th anniversary, is an event that assembles all the children’s workshops conducted throughout Japan. Along with the other winners, A Day in the Market was put on display at the award-winners’ exhibition booth and Digital Children’s Book Fair Exhibition booth.

The app is the digital version of Araw sa Palengke, a storybook written by May Tobias-Papa and illustrated by Isabel Roxas which won a National Children’s Book Award in 2010. In 2013, the app received a Kirkus Star, awarded to books of exceptional merit, while it was named by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) as one of the 2014 Best Apps for Teaching and Learning.
