September 8 is International Literacy Day (ILD) and this year’s country of focus is none other than the Philippines. With the theme, The Power of People: Start a Literacy Movement, the International Literacy Association (ILA) takes a closer look at the growing literacy rate in the Philippines and how this improves the lives of the Filipinos. Teachers, librarians, students, and reading advocates are encouraged to work together in creating more successful communities through the power of literacy.
