Every year on the first Wednesday of March, World Read Aloud Day happens in order to lend a voice to the need for awareness about the significance of reading aloud.
We are happy to join the campaign in motivating “children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words and [creating] a community of readers taking action to show the world that the right to literacy belongs to all people.”
If your organization is interested in joining the celebrations by holding a read-aloud session on March 4, 2015 for a state-funded preschool, elementary school, library, or day care center located in the Philippines, we will take care of the books and the storyteller. (*)
To apply, tell us why your organization believes that reading is important and why you are choosing your particular school or center. Responses can be submitted by filling out this form.
On February 23, we will announce the 10 organizations with the best responses. These 10 organizations will receive the following for their chosen beneficiary:
– professional storyteller (*)
Non-formal organizations are accepted, but organizations must have first confirmed the session with the school or center before submitting the form.
In the occasion that the organization is selected, the organization is expected to turn over the books to their chosen beneficiary, document the read-aloud session, and post 2-3 photos to social media using the hashtag #WRAD2015 and tagging @AdarnaHouse and @litworldsays.
