Save the Children Philippines will be presenting their First Read programme at the Asian Festival of Children’s Content. They will be at the Media Mart and Book Fair from May 30 to June 3, and will be presenting their efforts to help create more quality and age-appropriate books for children in the Philippines and Cambodia on 31 May 11:30-12:00 PM.
Part of First Read is the development and publication of books and early literacy materials in the local language, for which the book Ang Mabait na Kalabaw has been translated to Blaan, Tagakaulo, and Tboli by Save the Children and SIL Philippines. These languages were chosen according to the linguistic areas covered by the Programme in support of mother tongue-based multilingual education.
Adarna House is happy to work with Save the Children and Prudence Foundation for their First Read Programme, which aims to improve the development of emergent literacy and numeracy skills of children ages 0-4 through more responsive parenting and increased community support.
