Adarna House bags 3 of 6 National Children’s Book Awards!

Last Saturday, July 24, the children’s publishing industry gathered at the Mandarin Oriental for the first ever National Children’s Book Awards.  The NCBA, organized by the National Book Development Board (NBDB) and the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY), is the first award of its kind — recognizing the country’s best published children’s books, which include both works of fiction and nonfiction.

Publishers were asked to nominate their books with a copyright year of either 2008 or 2009.  And we have been grinning from ear to ear since Saturday because, out of our 14 nominations, 3 of our books were given citations!  (Click on the images below to see the complete profile of the book and to read the full citation.)

We are so happy with the NCBA, which gives the awards on an even playing field — without ranking and categories — along with written citations that highlight each book’s strength and charm.

Congratulations are in order: to our authors and illustrators May Tobias-Papa, Isabel Roxas, Gidget Roceles-Jimenez, Bru, Becky Bravo and Jason Moss; to the NBDB and PBBY; and to the tireless and awesome judges!

See the NBDB website for more details regarding the NCBA.
