July is here again!
For the local children’s book publishing industry, this month calls for lots of celebration because July is National Children’s Book Month! (The Philippine Board on Books for Young People, the lead agency in the celebration of National Childrens Book Day, celebrates it every third week of July to commemorate the anniversary of the publication of Jose Rizal’s “The Monkey and the Turtle” in Trubners Oriental Record in London.)
So, in celebration, Adarna House has prepared two fun-filled Saturdays for our young book lovers:
On July 10, Powerbooks Megamall will be hosting our Illustrators’ Saturday. There will be three art workshops, each facilitated by one of our illustrators. Click here for the complete details.
The following Saturday, July 17, award-winning storyteller Dyali Justo will be at Fully Booked The Block (SM North) for the whole day. Four storytelling sessions are scheduled, and every session will be accompanied with book-signing by our authors and illustrators! See the complete schedule here.
(Oh, and the Saturday after that, PBBY and NBDB will be announcing the 10 winners of the very first National Children’s Book Awards. Please keep your fingers crossed for our books!)
Apart from all that, we’ve also got some book fairs lined up for the month. And remember, we sell our books at discount during our fairs, so come on down and visit us in case we’re in your area.
Whew! See you guys around! Happy National Children’s Book Month! :)
